I have just taken over managing our Commvault environment. I have noticed that the VSS option is not selected on any of our Windows file system backup sets. I have attached one server as an example. I know the SQL agent should not have the VSS enabled. But it should be ok to enable the VSS agent on the file system of that server correct?

VSS is not enabled by default on subclients as there maybe programs installed on the machine were running a backup wiht VSS enabled may cause an issue. For instance on a SQL box you would not want to run a backup with VSS enabled unless you already had *.mdf and *.ldf filtered out as they would not be backed up properly through Win FS.
