    After talking to some folks at commvault i was supplied this link to clear up any confusion around the bug.  I'm sure other folks are churning with the same questions, so I figured Id post this up.

    Maybe sticky this for a bit :)

    Does this also apply to v9 or only v10?

    One of my proxy hosts which runs on ubuntu was patched yesterday as part of our response to this bug.... it broke all backups going through it. Thank goodness for snapshots!

    Apologies, did not see the previous post. But to add further.  We are running a Solaris media agent, which has openssl 0.9.7, which I know is not affected. But given the previous post, could upgrading the openssl libraries break something in the media agent?

    Also, I presume that the windows servers (which is most of what we have) use some other variant of ssl?

    V9 is also unaffected.

     

    I believe that manually updating the openssl binary will cause issues from a brief test I did, so do not recommend.
