Hi, we have about 100VMs all being used in a new OpenShift environment (Kubernetes at play) and are trying to figure out how to pick up the persistent storage from those VMs latching onto the independent disks which obviously can't be backed up via the normal VSA methods (and, no FS agent in any of these VMs). It was suggested we look at doing Intellisnap for these but I cannot tell by the BoL whether we can do this or not.
This is a lab where the CS is also the MA and it does the VSA proxy "work" as well - all is fine as far as SAN or NBD backups are concerned, just now all these independent disk failures. All datastores are VMFS via FC from a pair of VNX5300's. According to the support matrix where it says the following
IntelliSnap is supported on Windows 2012 and 2012 R2, with the following restrictions:
- Only with the NetApp engine
Does that basically mean "no" to the question since we don't have NetApp and our MA/Proxy is Server2012? Sure seems to me the BoL has some contradictory statements around what is or isn't supported. An endless loop when trying to determine exactly what can or can't be done in this regard.
