So I'm a little confused about all options and ways you can configure Encryption. I want to enable encryption on my Primary Copy Policy vs the Global DDB Policy so it won't be as intensive processing.

When I go to the Storage Policy Copy properties of 1. Primary, the Encrypt Data box is greyed out and above it a "Note: The encryption option follows the Global Dedupe Policy settings".

When I look at my Global Dedupe Policy settings | Advanced | the Encrypt Data on primary copy is not selected and the Preserve encryption mode as in source under Auxiliary Copy Encryption is selected (see attachment encryption01).

Does that mean encryption is happening during the aux copy jobs? If so is there a report I can run to show auditors data is being encrypted during this process?

    Hi wsumps01

You are correct on the findings.

When a Global Deduplication Policy is configured, although it is pointing to multiple different Copy you can only configure Encryption at the Global level, because when writing backup to a GDDB Store there will be similarly referenced signature across the Store, so it won't be possible to set it granularly

You can refer to the following documentation to generate a report to determine jobs that are encrypted -http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=7865.htm

    Regards
