    Hi,

I have inherited a commvault environment and noticed we have no backup of our archive data. Each archiver is disabled (restores enabled) with the archive data stored on a local windows server (storage). A copy of that archive is getting consolidated to a server local to me. Is there a way to easily reconstitute the data to tape? Is just backing up the directories CV_MAGNETIC and the associated databases etc sufficient?

We are still on v10sp13 (planning upgrade to v11) but want to get a backup of the archive data first... just in case things go up the creek.

    thanks in advance.

You will likely find that the v11 upgrade will require it to be done by Commvault Professional Services or a Certified Partner.  As part of any v11 upgrade, the professional should conduct a thorough inspection into the CommCell health beforehand given than v10 support ended over a year ago.

That said, the proper way to protect the archive to tape is create a Storage Policy Copy for the Archive Storage Policy that will be an Auxiliary Copy on Tape sourced from the Disk Copy.
