    Hi,

we plan to perform an hardware refresh of a CS virtual machine (windows server 2016) on a physical server (Windows server 2019) because we reach Extra-Large requirements.

we use a DNS name for the commcell (floating CommServe name?) .i can keep the IP address but i can't keep the hostname of the old production commserve for hardware inventory reason.

in the two method recommended for the hardware refresh, i'm not sure what method i should use like explain in the KB article below :

    https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=4748.htm

    please advice

    regards,

If I am reading your post correctly. You can keep the same IP for your Commcell console server but are not able to keep the same DNS name. So neither one of the methods listed will be of use to you. The article does say "Remember that the CommServe client name must be the same as the old CommServe client" and if you are not able to keep the DNS name then:  "If none of the methods work for your environment, contact Customer Support for assistance." So it sounds like you should probably open up an Incident with CV support.
