I havent been hands on with Commvault for few years so have forgotten but is it possible to AUX copy data from archive tapes to disk? The goal is to remove dependency on tapes and move all archive data from tapes to disk. I know it will require a lot of disk space but that is a separate conversation. For now, consider there is sufficient disk storage.

Also, the AUX copy needs to maintain the retention settings of tape so data purges out from disk as it would have aged off in tapes.

    Apprecaite any responses.

    Happy holidays.

Sure, auxiliary copy can move data from tape to disk and visa versa.  Take a look at the documentation here for all the details:

Let us know if this helps.  Also if you have Commvault deduplication enabled/configured for your disk libraries, you can save additional space on your disk subsystems

Thanks for the quick response. So adding to this, if I have few hundred archived tapes that were written to by jobs that are not active anymore, how can I ensure all the data from those tapes have been copied over to disk?

The goal is to remove the reliance on tapes and move all data to disk. There are a lot of jobs that are not active anymore. This is an environment my team has inherited so dont have much historical knowledge about it.
