We have a magnetic library we do fulls to and do a selective aux copy to tape.  We want to change the retention on the mag library to spool copy.

For housekeeping purposes, we'd like to change the selective copy to a synchronous copy instead of adding another aux copy to the storage policy.  I don't see any option to change selective to synchronous and looking at the documentation, it doesn't seem like it can be done.  Can someone please confirm this or give me a link to documentation that explains how to do this?

    Thanks!

    Hi LEDPaint,

Currently there is no way to convert a selective copy --> synchronous due to how our aging/retention logic work.

What you can do is create your synchronous copy and uncheck "active" on your selective copy, that way new backups will run to your synchronous policy and eventually the selective jobs will age off at that point it can be deleted.

create the new aux copy and temporarily set the old as the source. once the new aux copy has copied all the old jobs from the previous aux you can then set the primary as the source and run the backups normally.
