Has anyone tried this?  How is the performance?  Have you virtualized this box as well?  My virtual environment won't be very large (~20 VM's) and I'd love to take advantage of the SQL 2008 install I already have on the Commserve.  For reference the Commserve machine does nothing else other than manage the Commserve (which is two media agents and about 10 protected servers).

I would highly recommend against doing this. The commserve should have nothing eles utilizing its SQL instance (I believe this violates the EULA), especially something as transactional as Vcenter (even in a small environment)
