Where can you adjust how often it looks/scans for new files?

What replication are you using, CDR, DDR, SDR, or WBA?

Each behave a little different, so let us know.

    CDR

Basically trying to replicate user directories from remote sites to our main data center in a central location.

The line speeds aren't that great so I'd like them to replicate as often as possible. Trying to avoid big chunks of data.

After the initial sync had moved all the data over I put a temp file in the user share and waited to see how long it took to replicate over.

Took about 20 minutes before it I believe it did its smartsync and then finally moved the file over.

CDR will continously replicate the data once its in a replicating state.  The behavior you observed was because the changes are captured in the replication logs and then transferred to the destination.  Once the log reaches the destination it will get replayed.  The delay you saw was more then likely because the amount of "temp" data you copied was not of a full log (less than ~5 megs), which waits for more data.  If you copy something like 50 megs (about 10 logs worth), you should see it on the destination quicker, since the log size is reached instead of a timeout.
