    I have a support ticket opened up for this but I thought I'd poke around here while i'm waiting.

    I have an issue where I can archive mail from a exchange server no problems.

    Stubs showup in the mailbox with the proper icons.

    However when I attempt a recovery it proceeds to attempt the recovery and just sits there.

    It eventualy errors out but the message isn't very specific just say contact administrator.

    In OWA its sits for a longtime then comes back with 500 error.

    When I look on the commcell console it doesn't even show a connection being tried...

    So i'm wondering if the address in the stub for the recovery is incorrect some how or something and its trying a bad address it can't resolve..

    We have similar archiving process happening on another email server and it works perfectly fine.

    When a stub recovery is initiated the outlook add-in calls the exchange server where the mailbox resides. My first question would be is the persistent recovery opening up on the commserve? If not see below. If so let me know.

    If you are working with exchange 2007 or above then you no doubt have a proxy/multi instance install. If this is the case make sure you have the OWA proxy enabler installed on the exchange server (virtual if cluster). If this is installed and patched sp4 make sure you go to the properties of the exchange server in commvault GUI /advanced tab. The proxy server setting here will need to be the 32 bit instance or proxy. If this is set you can look at the EvmGrC.log on the 32 bit instance to see if the recall request is making it there. You can search the log for "outlook".

    Persistent recovery does not open in the commserve.

    Your correct ex2007 so we have a multi instance install.

    OWA proxy enabler is installed on the exchange server.. not web proxy if that matters.

    Fully patched and the first instance works fine.

    Don't see anything in the logs other than:

    1528 624 09/23 04:50:29 ### ::receiveMessage() - Socket [540]: Attempting Login.
    1528 624 09/23 04:50:29 ### ::onUserLogin() - Socket [540]: Successful connect from [CVD@myhost-32mapi]

    You didn't mention if you checked that the proxy server is configured on the properties of the 64 bit instance on the GUI but assuming that it is I would like you to look at the properties of both the 64 and 32 bit agents. I need to know of the host name for both are a unique name and neither is using ip address. It is common that we see the 32 bit instance using the machines ip address. This causes the exact issues you are seeing. If it is ip address make sure you create a cname in dns or host files. Once the alias is created you will need to change the host name using the edit option. Let me know what you find.

    P.S. What does the evmgrc.log for the 64 bit instance say?

    Crap sorry it's late.

    I missed the part where you said to check it on the 64bit client!!!

    I've made the proxy change under the advanced tab and its showing up in my commserve job controller window.

    Thanks!

    You wrote not but I am assuming you meant now. That is great news. If you are set and don't mind please mark this thread as resolved.

    Take care.
