  • Question about restoring VMDK files using Virtual Server iDataAgent

I'm currently backing up some of our Vsphere 4 Virtual Machines using the Virtual Server iData Agent configured to use the VADP APIs.   The backups are working really well but there is a  problem I see when I brow the backup data.   if I select the "Container Restore" and expand one of the VMs, there appears to be a duplicate files for each of the VMDK "drives".

Any thought on what may be the problem?

Based on the screenshot I can see that both VADP and VCB had performed a backup at some given point (existance of the vmxf and vmx prove this).  This futher illustrates that you selected a bracket of time which will encapsulate more than 1 backup job OR chose to browse latest data.

In any event if you isolate the browse to 1 particular job (using browse data before and after, using the advanced browse options) do you see the same behavior?

Also are you using the GUI local to the CS or a remote GUI?

If the browse is displaying data from multiple indices then fsindexrestore/evgmrs/browse log might reveal further details.
