    Hi,

The cvd process doesn´t start. Is there any way to force that process to start?

    # simpana list
    +-----------+---------+--------------------------------------------------------+
    | Service   |   PID   | Service command
    +-----------+---------+--------------------------------------------------------+
    | cvlaunchd | 5823    | /opt/simpana/Base/cvlaunchd
    +-----------+---------+--------------------------------------------------------+
    | cvd       | N/A     | /opt/simpana/Base/cvd
    +-----------+---------+--------------------------------------------------------+
    | EvMgrC    | 5825    | /opt/simpana/Base/EvMgrC                     +-----------+---------+--------------------------------------------------------+

I have removed and reinstalled the software, restarted the services, etc.  I have also checked for other cvd processes running or anything running on port 8400 with no luck.

    Thanks!

Try starting the cvd process from command line...

    Here's how its done.

Start by sourcing the galaxy_vm and cvprofile (This sets up the environment for the service).

    [root@server ~]# cd /opt/simpana
    [root@server simpana]# . ./galaxy_vm

    [root@server simpana]# . ./Base/cvprofile
    [root@server simpana]# cvd
    [root@server simpana]#

When the service starts the daemon your prompt should come back with no errors.

If you do get an error, post it here.

    This is what I´m getting:

    # cvd
cvd: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/simpana/Base/libSnooper.so                                        : cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied

    Adc,

I see a permission denied error.  Is there a firewall between the Client and CommServe?  You may also want to check if the Linux FW is running as well.  You mentioned an uninstall/reinstall was done.  There may be hung ports.  Can you try a reboot of the Client as well?

Looks like you have SELinux enabled and set to enforcing mode.   Please refer to the online documentation on how to adjust SELinux to work with CommVault, or change the SELinux setting to either passive or disable it (If you don't need it).

Here is the link to the online documentation:

    http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/release_9_0_0/books_online_1/english_us/system_requirements/linux.htm

(Near the bottom of this page see SELinux)

Also here is a link to the KB article in Maintenance Advantage that also covers this subject:
