  • Installation of agents fails on Microsoft UAG 2010
    Posted: 09-23-2010, 11:06 AM

I receive the following error when attempting to install windows iData agent on the UAG 2010 server:

Install failed. Setup failed to check CS version for "CommVault Server name"

"CommVault Server name" is the DNS name of the CommVault server in our environment.

I am suspicious that because this is a special server (By the way the TMG is installed on this server as well) there is a firewall port problem involved. But for sure I have created a Rule allowing all the traffic coming from the CommVault server.

    Any idea? Thanks in advance

    Hello kamran,

Certainly looks like a communication issue between the client and commserve. Would it be possible for you to attach the installation logs from the client machine found in %allusersprofile%\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles ?

    Hi Stephen!

Thanks for your reply. Here is the LogFiles from the client location as you advised in the attachment. Here is the highlight from the logfiles that I think might be the clue. But I don't know what exactly it means.

Can you doublecheck this client can resolve the following name "pp-grn-comvlt01"

otherwise its failing to connect to the CS.

Setup failed to verify connectivity with the specified CommServe pp-grn-comvlt01

from the client do a NSLOOKUP for the CS name you are entering as well as a PING -A and make sure the IP returned is the correct one. Then do a TELNET <CS NAME> 8400. This should return a blinking cursor.

If any of these steps fail, you are looking at some type of communication issue. If they all pass, you may want to open a ticket.

Is Windows FW or UAC running on this machine?
