We experience problems with one Vmware guest system. This host managing Oracle database. We have installed Oracle IDa on them. DB exist on Physical RDM. Sometimes this DB doing a lot IOPS. Oracle application and Simpana installed on different disk. If simpana will run backup during these time periods we will receive error: Establishing connection to Client services failed. Make sure this product's Services are running on the client [CLIENT] and check network connectivity between client and CommServe.

When i am log on to this Linux server by SSH i notice that this server pretty slow in response. Now we trying to find out, does it possible to extend timeouts, while Simpana will wait for availability and will run backup after heavy load will fall. Right now these backup jobs fails because of that.

Hi bodryagin, thanks for the post.

Could you share the full logs from the CommServe & Client machine which is doing the backup, and the job id of the last job which had this problem?  We may need to open a formal incident to investigate further.

    Hello Ali,

Thanks for your answer. So in this case there is no way to set timeout to keep job active in waiting state during services unavailability because of heavy load on system?

Thanks, thats correct, most likely not.  If there is no response from the Client side, it will be flaged for an event, unless you create a pre/post script to wait until there is a valid response of some sort, however thats not normal.

Would look into why the load is so heavy, or go with a proxy/another moachine to balance the resources or schedule less job or streams to the loaded machine.

    Hello Ali!

Thank you for your answer. Sometimes this server experiences high IO load on disks during short time periods, also this server is VM guest host. This is normal behaviour and we can live with it, i've set few retries on schedule level and from now one this job will restart instead of being failed.
