Can you copy-to-cache the .tar file for Linux?

No.  The tar file will need to be unpacked first.   Also if you wish to copy the Unix SP5 to the cache, do NOT use WinZip to unpack the tar file, as it will corrupt the service pack.  It is recommended to use another unarchiver like WinRar or GNU-Tar to unpack the file.

Once the tar has been unpacked to a folder, it can then be copied to the cache on the commserver.

Is 7-zip ok?  I can always download WinRar, but I like using 7-zip for most stuff.

    7Zip will be fine.
