    Hi,

I have a client that is currently on EMC Avamar and has engaged Commvault for a proof of concept.  Can vsa agents or vmware agents be used alongside the existing agents?  Can a tape library be added to 2 separate backup products?  Are there any resources specific to this sort of product conversion?

I am a Commvault noob and I know these are sort of general questions for a specific situation but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Commvault will work with the OS, it will be blind to a 3rd party if its trying to access the same resources.  The conflicts can come in if the same resources/reservations on the library are called and in use.  Worst case the backups could fail or the system could possibly lock up to as there would be resource contention.

For now, you could shut down the 3rd party services and run CV, shouldn't be a problem.
