    Hello Experts,

There is this commcell client, which has iActiveDirectory agent, Virtual Server Agent and File System agents for backup. While i am not worried about AD and VM based backup. File System backup is very problematic related to billing my customer.

C: Drive: Used size: 20GB, Total Size: 50GB

D Drive: Used size: 5GB, Total Size: 20GB

After the full backup, the total backup size is reporting as 66+GB, this is inclusive of 20GB C and 5GB D. The remaining size is shown as system state backup.

Why is system state backup occupying too much of space.

Can you please help me with this.

    Hi Karthick,

Thats normal, in the sense that the newer generation Windows machines 2008 and above consider processes as System Protected files and are protected under the System State component of the backup.  If you do not need the SS backup for restore purposes you can simply disable it from the job, or filter out components which aren't needed from the backup for restore to cut down the overall size of data protected.

Again, just be careful what you exclude out isn't what you need for restores.
