    Hi.

We have a customer which want:

Daily incr saved for 60 days.
Weekly diff saved for 90 days.
Monthly full saved for 90 days.

Is there any good way to do this?

As far as I can see it is only possible to have extended retention on full backup.
Anyone have a good work around?

    We use Commvault v10 R2 SP13

    Regard

    Tore ML

    Hi Tore ,

What type of the data are these policies going to hold .

and what is the type of library you are using ,is it disk or Tape ?If tapes ,do you have multiple drives?

Are you using any deduplication ?

    Regards

    Hi Mitesh,

This is a file server - and I'm using a disk library.

    We also use deduplication.

    Hi.

Could I create a new backup set and put the diff copy in that one?

Would the new and old copy keep track of the changes done on the server / archive bit so that I don't do dubble backup?

I guess that this also would create an issue when restoring - since I cant browse File System - but have to go from the backup set.

Must the do two restores if I should restore complete folder with changed files in it?

    Hi Tore,

a backupset is always the base for full to diff or incr backups.
multiple Backupsets will not help you.

You could create a schedule policy w/ 3 schedules

    1. full - schedule/advanced/media tab set job retention to 90 days
    2. diff - schedule/advanced/media tab set job retention to 60 days
    3. incr - schedule/advanced/media tab set job retention to 30 day (or SP default)

in the StoragePolicyCopy settings define retention to 30 days (minimum retention for all data in that SPC)

this will help you retain the data as wanted.

    regards
    Klaus
