    Hello!

I'm testing for backup on XEN Server environment. I have configured the following VSA windows server:

XEN VM on the same Xen pool

    XEN version = 6.5

    WINDOWS SERVER 2012R2 STANDARD

    RAM 2gb

    2xvcpu

    hd 50gb

    CommVault software version 10 SP13

Number of data readers = 1

Unfortunately the VSA is crashing very often during bacukps with the vCPUs that seem very busy.

Is it  a performance problem or something is going wrong? are my system requirements OK?

can be usefull to update to the v11 CommVault version?

    Thank you very much.

    Simone

The operating system is crashing or the Commvault Services?

    Hi,

We had same issue some time ago. VSA windows box crash with black screen - usually during XEN snapshot connection/removal.

Try add some resources to VSA VM's (depends on XEN cluster size 4-8GB RAM/4-8vCPU), check concurent numer of backup jobs using particular VSA, add redundant VSA to cluster (simpana will round-robin guest VMs betwean them), check if there is no old snapshot connected to VSA (during crash sometimes snapshots are not correctly removed).

Upgrade to v11 may be also woth to consider - looks like XEN client is more mature there.
