    Hi All

I am looking for an option to restore the Oracle table space in the same server but different Database name. Please let me know if anyone has tested that before

    Senario

    Host Name : Server1

    Source DB Name : DBNAME_1

    Table Space : SYSAUX, SYSTEM , .....

    Destination Server : Server1

    Destination DB Name : DBNAME_2

Also is the Duplicate DB option will work ( I have never tested and I believe it is for the entire DB not for selected Table space )

    Hi Sunny48,

What you describe can be accomplished using the RMAN duplicate option.  Oracle does not allow restoring a single tablespace to another instance.

Check the documentation for duplicate Oracle restore.   Essentially the best way to accomplish this would be to create an auxiliary instance with the new DB name, then add the db_file_name_convert and log_file_name_convert to the init file of that auxiliary instance.

Then start that instance into "nomount" mode, and register the DB in Commvault (All you need is the init file to start an Oracle instance in nomount mode)

Then you can duplicate the DB to the auxiliary instance.  You only need to include the system tablespaces along with the tablespace you want and the restore should work.

Here is a link to the procedure in the documentation:

    http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=products/oracle/t_ora_dupe_same_host_inst.htm

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks its worked, we have skipped the table space which was not required by adding them in "Duplicate to Skip DB"

    Appreciate your quick response
