    Hi,

We have the following storage policy created:

    1. Snapshot
    2. Snapmirror, aux copy  (source= 1. Snapshot)
    3. Backup to tape, backup copy (source= 1. Snapshot)

When we launch the backup copy we can see that the mediaagent tries to connect the luns from the netapp filer to the initiators of the mediaagent.
Since the media agent does not have any initiators on the netapp filer we get the error:

17648 3ce4  01/18 15:30:19 33703 CVSnapClientAPIInternal::setJPR() - JPR Set - Error [60516, Initiators on host:[xxx] Are not logged into file server:[xxx]. Please check the SAN or iSCSI connectivity between the file server and the client.] Custom Error [Initiators on host:[xxx] Are not logged into file server:[xxx]. Please check the SAN or iSCSI connectivity between the file server and the client.]

However we do not want to copy to tape through the MediaAgent. The tape drive is directly connected to the Netapp filer (ontap 8.3.2P8 c-mode) and we want to do a ndmp dump directly from the snapshot to a tape directly connected to the netapp controllers.
I have selected the netapp controller (cluster) as MediaAgent but it still tries to do a filescan using the mediaagent server and complains about the initiators not being visible.

We have some other storage policies that perform a direct dump to tape of some netapp volumes so a ndmp dump from the netapp to a directly attached tape in itself works fine.

Is what we are trying to achieve even possible?

    Regards,

    Jonathan.
