Hi folks. I'm working on getting XtremIO and IntelliSnap setup oin my lab to backup some VMware VM's and I'm getting the following error:

Failed to prepare snapshot. : [Failed to identify array for device[{idatype:vmware, vendor:XtremIO ,type:fc,standardinqury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lunuuid:0200010000514f0c5aff200001587472656d41,targetidentifier:514f0c50018f8304,version:10}]. Please ensure that the array is added in the array management AND the user name and password are valid.]

The user account is an administrator on the array and I am able to log into the console with the username and password that I have in array management. I'm using a Media Agent that's zoned into the same zone as the ESXi hosts.

Anyone else run into this message? Figured I would check here first before opening an incident.

When you are configuring XtremIO array in the Array Management screen, you have to ensure that the XtremIO Cluster name given against 'Name' field should match the name given in XMS server - its case-sensitive and has to match exactly.

Also, ensure that the client host which is the VSA-Proxy, connects to the XMS server successfully.

Just to avoid any confusion - the cluster name as configured in the XMS server - that name needs to be given in the 'Name' field of Array Management and the XMS server name or IP address needs to be given in the 'Control Host' field of Array Management.

I’ve tried just about every combination of IP, hostname, FQDN/no FQDN and no luck. Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by connecting to the XMS server successfully? We were able to zone the VSA proxy into the ESXi zone and see the storage if that’s what you’re referring to.

Turned out to be a subclient property configuration. I had been testing IntelliSnap with IBM XIV backing up a physical server so I assumed I needed to select the array from the IntelliSnap drop down... I was wrong. I needed to select the Virtual Server Agent Snap as the snap engine.
