    Hey Guys,

do you think it's possible / got practice to create multiple Vmware subClients w/ the same conent inside the one BackupSet ? (e.g. "datastore eqals MyDataStore")

I'd like to do SnapShot only (crash consistent) backups on the one hand, and SnapShot + Replication / BackupCopy (appication consistent) on the other.

Today I'm doing this by creating subClients with similar content in two different backupsets.
With DPA Licensing, this ends up in double capacity consumption of SnapShot capacity which is not allways the desired effect.

Since the VM Snap Mode (crash consistent/application consistent/app aware) is part of the subClient definition I cannot influence it while running a backup job.

Overlapping content is allowed between multiple subclients in a VMware backup set as long as the default subclient is not one of the subclients. The default subclient has a special property in that content from other subclinets in the same backup set is automatically excluded from the default subclient. So as long as you use user-defined subclients, you should be fine.

You can read about this here: Default Subclient Coverage for Unprotected Virtual Machines.
