    Hi,

I currently have an issue with storage, from what I can tell there seems to be every incremental ever taken (as we havent started ageing data yet) despite conducting synthetic fulls each week. I believe if there is a way I can roll up backups into a monthly backup I'd save an incredible amount of storage.

I currently run primary backups which are they Aux'd off to DR. I dont have a problem at primary, its DR that I'm running out of storage on, is there a way I can roll up the incrementals on on a secondary copy or manage the storage without ageing?

    Thanks,

    Dale.

    Hi Dale,

SynFulls are in some sense the best 'roll-up' option, however, SynFulls don't always pull forward all versions of all files, by default its the latest version only so you may be missing files here and there if they have changed within a cycle.

Are your aux copies Synchronous or Selective copies, are they deduped, and what are you required to maintain?  If its just the Fulls (say monthly fulls) then you can create a Selective Copy, and copy jobs from the existing Synchronous copy (which is what you probably have right?) and then once you have that on the new Selective you can prune the Synchronous copy to reclaim the space and consolidate only the jobs (Fulls) that you may need going forward, thats one option.
