    Hi all,

we are migrating protected VMs from old environment (old storage, old Vcenter 5.0 and old ESX 5.0),

To a new Environment (New storage (new datastores),  new vcenter 6.5, and new ESX 6.5)

we have already installed VSA on the new Vcenter and created new subclients to protect the migrated VM.

    Please find below my questions

-what's the best scenario that i can follow to insure that the migrated VMs will stay protected

-Preserve the backup history of the VM on the old subclients.

-Old and new subclients will coexist until complete the migration of all Virtual Machines to the new environment.

-we have a combination of liencse (C:SB-C-DPA-VM-CELL) where we reached the total number of protected VM.

    Thank you in advance.

    Strate.

You may find the following documentation regarding vCenter Migration helpful:

    http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=products/vs_vmware/c_vmw_vctr_migration.htm

If you would like to preserve the backup history of the old subclients, do not delete the subclients from the Commvault GUI. This way you have the old data you can restore from in case you need it. You can always rename the subclients so that there is no confusion between old and new.

There is also the option to hide deconfigured or virtually discovered machines.
