Anyone doing these anymore?  My thinking is that they are still needed for physical servers, but not for virtuals.  My question for those doing them:

How often do you backup system state?  Daily, weekly?  Do you do them directly to tape, or to storage first, then aux copy over to tape?  I want to make sure that what I'm thinking is enough, etc.

We run them everyday into a MagLib with a dedup enabled SP

It takes up very little diskspace.

System state backups should still be performed for physical boxes and any virtuals still protected by file system iDA.  This is especially true for application servers (DC, SQL) .  System state is a vital component for full system recoveries and mining data from teh registry, sysvol and other system databases.
