what happens in this scenario ?

    - targhet mailbox for archiving (only backup no stub creation) with emails from 01/01/2010

    - Exchange Archive policy "Include messages older than 0 days"

    - Exchange Retention policy "Retain for 365 days based on received time"

    - Storage policy "Retains for 30 days, 0 cycles"

    - Archiving schedule daily "Incremental"

if today (16/01/2018) I run the first archiving task what happens for emails with received time older than 16/01/2017 (365 days) ?

After more than 30 days what will happen to "older" archive jobs ?

Since you are using the term Archive and Retention Policy, I assume you are using the new Exchange Mailbox agent, correct?

As of today, storage policy retention does not affect the backups taken with the new mailbox agent.  All retention is based on the retention policy of the jobs.  A background processing thread runs every 24 hours which checks the retention of objects against the Index server.  Any emails that are older than the retention policy set for that data are marked as not visible, making them impossible to browse or restore.

After 30 days, nothing will happen here as storage policy retention will not affect these jobs.  If you run a data retention report from the commcell, you will see that any exchange mailbox job is marked as not applicable/infinite.

Just following on from this comment, as we are writing our aux out to tape we are going through a lot of tapes as these are never aging off. Is there a recommended setup for 365 mailbox aux copy to tape, without having to manually prune tapes every couple of months?
