Occasionally we have a Oracle DBA who moves a Oracle Database from one LPAR to its HA partner.

In the past we moved the ORACLE SID using the QOPERATION command:

    ./qoperation move –sc <old_client> -a Q_ORACLE –i <instance_name> -dc <new_client>

We have been doing the same thing since at least V9.

I found nothing in a search but wondering if there is a v11 workflow that can perform the same move.

That's actually a very good question.  Let me check with some folks and I'll post what I get back.  As far as I know there is no workflow for this, but then it may be on the roadmap...  Are you at V11 yet? if so can you confirm that the "qcommand" is still working at this point?

I just confirmed that there currently are no plans to replace this command with a workflow...

There may be some integration with our "rest" API, but the qcommand is still the process of choice for this feature.

Thank you for verifying that.  Since there are instances and in some cases volumes that could need to be moved between clients a workflow could make this easier.  Appreciate you checking on this.

You could create your own workflow that uses the qcommand and accepts input that can then be directed into the "qoperation move" command.

I'm not familiar with workflows myself, but we do have a number of PS folks that create workflows all the time for some of our customers.

    Just a thought...
