Would it be possible to uninstall java, reinstall java, and then try the Commvault installation again?

Just to clarify you are just installing the index store package on a server?  What version of Commvault are you installing (v11 SP11/12?) and would it be possible to get the install log file from the server in question?

Are you able to install just the file system core agent?

If so, this might have to do with the port requirements in combination with internal security regarding index nodes.
When the FS Core agent is installed please try to make:

    • 2 Client Computer Groups
      • one for your CS and MA's
      • one for your index store servers
    • Ten create a two way tunnel between the two groups via the Network Topologies section
    • Push firewall settings for the newly created network topology.

If it is a port/security issue, this will fix it.
If this is not the solution please upload the install log file to see what's happening.
