A month ago we got a new Isilon with 14 nodes and were sold on the sales pitch that you have only 1 mount path defined in CommVault and that SmartConnect will round robin between the nodes.

I found this blog, that affirms what we were told during the sales pitch. A couple of quotes from the blog “Streams and retention criteria - each stream will spawn a new SMB connection to the Isilon library……. CommVault Windows MediaAgents will open multiple SMB connections to the entire Isilon cluster across multiple Isilon nodes when thing are working correctly.

We have 4 MediaAgents and from what I have seen once a MA latches onto a node it sticks with it until all activity has completed so at best only 4 of the 14 nodes are being used by CommVault. I have not seen any sign that each stream will spawn a new SMB connection or that a MA will open multiple SMB connections. I have tickets open with both CommVault and EMC on this but I am not getting any solid answers.

For those who are using an Isilon as a disk library for CommVault are you seeing all the Isilon nodes being utilized if the number of MAs is less than the number or Isilon nodes? Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how did it get resolved?
