    Hi,

Backup was completing successfully to one client earlier.

But from last few days it is failing.

    Services are running in client.

But port 8400 and 8402 was not reachable.

We asked Server team and network team to look into it.

They made changes and said all ports are open.

Now port 8402 is reachable from Commserve to client but port 8400 is not reachable.

Commvault services is running in client.

I have doubt, does port 8400 will be open only when Commvault services are in running state ?

Correct, the proces will only listen to 8400 when Commvault Communication service (CVD) is running

    Thanks,

I have one more doubt, If Commvault process is hung in client, can we do telnet from commserve to client via port 8400 successfully ?

I believe you will get a time out response if the process hangs

    Hi,

You can also do telnet against local 8400 from the client machine itself to make sure there is no issue with 8400. If it works, then it is network causing the issue.

    Thanks
