ID to install commvault agent

    If we install commvault agent in a server by a service domain account.


    if later that particular domain account is removed, will the backup start failing ?

    The user performing the install is not the user defined on the commvault services, your backups will continue to run

    Edit: Asuming you did not change the services to run as that user...

    Win FS backups just use local services as that is typically enough for the Backup API to capture the needed data with or without VSS for locked files.


    Agents beyond that, say Active Directory for example, typically need an account specified that gives admin access to the data needed to be backed up. So in an AD iDA there is a location to set an access account as outlined at the link below:



    Exchange, SQL, VMware, Oracle, etc all typically require higher level access and will need an account specified.
