    Hi,

My client has a Linux samba cluster with around 6 millions files / 4TB on DRBD device. I would like to use Block Level Backup approach to backup this, however client has some doubts if it's safe to use Block Level Backup with DRBD.

Unfortunately I cannot find anything about DRBD in BOL. Personally I can't see why should it be any issue, but because this is a production cluster I would rather ask before shoot.

Has anyone here have been able to succesfuly backup such devices? Any experience to share would be great.

    Thanks,
    Robert

I don't have experience with this setup, but regarding the customers doubts.
You are only backing up on block level, not writing in the blocks.
    I don't see an issue.

Thank you for your input Jos it is much appreciated. I also think there should be nothing to worry about.

If anyone has a real world experience with such setup, please do not hesitate to comment.

    Thanks,
    Robert
