    Hi all,

I have small problem about recovery (Simpana console).

First, Our version of COMMVAULT : V11 SP11.

I tried to restore a specific file about a Virtual Machine (Windows 2016).

This file have 2 differents dates (06 Sept 2018 and 18 Oct 2018).

I have many behaviours, when I tried to restore the oldest version of my file :

    - on the same VM, with the option "Restore both Data and ACLs", I have a failed restoration job.

    - on the same VM, with the option "Restore Data only", I have a failed restoration job.

    - on the COMMServe, with the option "Restore both Data and ACLs", I have a Completed restoration job but the file is empty (Good name, good date but the size at zero Bytes).

    - on the COMMServe, with the option "Restore Data only", I have a Completed restoration job but no file.

Little information : The virtual machine has changed of Virtual Center. I kept the subclient linked with the old Vcenter to hope restoring if I need it.

If you have an explication, I take it.

    Thanks

    Fabrice

What kind of backup is used as source for the restore?

VM backup or file system backup? I assume VM backup as you are referring to vCenter?

Also is reduplication enabled within the win2016 VM file system?

    Thanks for your answer.

    So in order :

Source of restore => VM Backup

Reduplication enabled => Yes (No compression)

And I'm sorry for the mistake but the VM that I try to restore (just a file in fact), is a Windows 2012 R2.

Ah ok, can you also tell us if you are restore the file back in to a VM or redirected the restore via a file system agent?

On my first email, I detail my tests.

I don't use any file system agent.

    Hello,

Is the original VM/ Data protected a Virtual Disk / Storage Space?

Are the files deduplicated by Windows?

Are you using Life Browse to recover the files?

If you do, the link below should assist on how to restore the 0K files.

    Thank you

Can you provide log files of the restore job?
