    hi Guys

Do we have any option to backup oracle table space / datafiles only seperately in a different subclient

I have a senario where the DB is huge 20+tb in size but most of the DB table spaces / datafiles are read only, Hence i was considering 2 options

    create 2 subclient

1st Subclient backup datafile with skip readonly table space / datafiles  ( backup will run daily as per teh schedule)

2nd Subclient backup readonly table space / datafiles only once a week

Please let me know if its possible or there are any better option we can think

    Thanks

    Hi Sunny,

This can be accomplished using the Online Subset backup mode on the Content tab of the subclient, however keep in mind that in a restore situation you will still need to bring the entire database to the same point in time, so backing up only parts of the database can complicate that.

This may be fine for your environment, but be cautious.

    Hi Carl

I have tested the online subset option however in may case it may not be a best idea as every month there will be more tablespace will be added. this open will work if the table space are static

You may still be able to make this work. Will those new tablespaces be R/O or R/W?

If they are R/W, you can instead leave your default subclient set to do a regular online backup (rather than subset) but on the Advanced tab, Options subtab, check the Skip Read-Only option. This will make sure that your R/W tablespaces are always protected regardless of changes.
