In the Commvault roles, vm operations, you can select "create vm snapshot" and "delete vm snapshot".
Where can that role be used? In the command center, I don't see any option for taking or removing a vm snapshot?
Here's an explanation of these permissions - http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=8395.htm
With specific lifecycle policies, VMs can be created, and that's what those permissions pertain to - http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=4577.htm
Yes, I know what the permissions are, but the point is that I don't see any option in the command center or webconsole to take/remove a snapshot. In the console I can delete/stop/restore/backup, but no options for taking/removing snapshots. (even not as "global" administrator)
Have you created/are currently using any active VM lifecycle policies?
Yes I did
After creating a VM within Web Console, the options those permissions pertain to should be available - http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=4602.htm
If you're not seeing them after creating a VM, opening a ticket with support may be the best option to see what might be missing.
From Web console -> Virtual machines page, Can you please click on the VM name, which will open the VM details page. This page has the additional options like snapshot creation/clone, synchronize etc.
we found it. I was looking at incorrect place.
But seriously...the icon...a "cd". It looks more like an icon to mount a cd/iso....
I am glad you found it and thank you for the feedback on the icon. We will try to change it to a better icon in the future.
