We have a system that no longer exists. But we need to restore some files from backups that haven't expired. That system had an image level backup on it for the large D drive.

I browsed to do the restore and it loaded the index and then I found the folder. When I go to do a restore the only 'destination' I can choose is that client as well. My guess is because there's no VM with image level backup agent installed (nor block level). I looked for either of those options to install on another test system but I don't see it in the software install options either.

How do your restore files from a deleted client's image level backup to a new destination?

    Thanks

    Great minds....

I am needing this information as well.  I have people looking for things backed up in 2012 by the image level agent.  I am thinking we will have to dig up the media for version 10 and install the image level agent on an active client.

You can download the image level agent here:

    https://ma.commvault.com/ESD?fv=10.0&esdID=1264

This should allow you to install the v10 configuration:

I opened a ticket with support and this is what we had to do. keep in mind v10 not supported on Windows Server 2016. And requires a reboot to install media agent, file system and Image Backup agents. So we spun up a new VM just for old CV restores. Got the software from the Commvault 'Store'.

Also, they had to put a key in the client's registry:

    HKLM>SOFTWARE>GalaxyInstallerFlags> (DWORD) bIgnoreCommServeVersion = 1

Unfortunately it seems to be hung or something during the client install after downloading components and extracting them. We'll see.
