  • Run pre/post scripts on agent?

    Hi there,

Is there a (easy) way to run a pre/post script on an agent?

I need to do some actions before backup, that must run on the server itself. But the pre-post scripts I see on the interface run on the MediaAgent.

    Thanks

Most clients have a pre/post config tab in the subclient properties. What type of client is this? What are you trying to do?

But I'm under the impression that the pre-post runs on the mediagent, not the backed up server.

    This is a Linux server.

If you have an agent on the linux server, the pre and post commands would be configured to run on the linux machine from the sub client tab.

The pre and post scripts run whereever the agent is installed. Why do you believe it will run on the media agent? If the agent is installed on the linux machine, that is where the process will run.

Guess I confused this with the VSA.

VSA scripts do seem to run from the VSA Proxy (in my case, also working as MA).

That is correct, in that case a pre or post script will run on the media agent\proxy.

VMware tools can handle freeze and thaw scripts as indicated at the link below.
