    Hi,

I sometimes see the CVJobReplicatorODS process reporting errors like "Error occurred while processing chunk" and "Unable to send the stop data transfer message to the tail". It seems that these errors occur when a MediaAgent is busy, or when multiple jobs (Backup Copies and/or Aux Copies) access the same Disk Library.

Everything (MediaAgents, Disk Libraries) is ready and accessible. But the MediaAgent might be a bit "busy".

Is there a way / a setting to prevent / reduce these errors?

    Thanks!

    Hi iConsultant

For CVJobReplicatorODS process reporting errors like "Error occurred while processing chunk" and "Unable to send the stop data transfer message to the tail" these are quite generic errors, indicating a potential network issue between the two MediaAgent (doing the Aux Copy)

The recommendation in this case is to setup a Network Route Configuration between the two MediaAgent, which will create a persistent CommVault tunnel for communication.

So if the issue does re-occur, and it disconnects the tunnel this would help in confirming the issue could be potentially environment, otherwise the additional logging will also help in understanding why the Tunnel went down.

    Hi,

It seems to me not so much a connectivity error, as all jobs run fine when no other jobs run. It seems as if the CVJobReplicatorODS process runs into errors when there are too many of them running on a single MA, or when resource contention (disk / several Aux Copies of several or even a single Storage Policy running simultaneously ) occurs. Instead of slowing down (which would be understandable when there is resource contention), the process then seems to fail.

    Thanks.

    Hi iConsultant

You are definitely correct, it might not be an actual connectivity issue, but could be resource contention, or other issues that are hindering the Process.

As mentioned before the CommVault Network Route configuration is to assist and narrow down the issue, it will confirm whether their are any connectivity issue (which you have confirmed not to be the case)

So I guess the next option is to review the logs for those specific isntance where you see the pipeline errors, and see if their could be any other potential enviornmental issues

    Regards
