    Hello guys,

currently we are using on-primes exchange server 2010 with Simpana v11 archiving solution

our goal is to migrate all users gradually to office 365 and stop archiving their emails

what is the best practice to migrate to office 365

shall we restore all archived emails from CommVault then migrate to office 365 ? or shall we migrate to office 365 and then perform data restore if applicable ?

    Regards

Any particular reason you want to bring all the data back?  Would avoid that if possible as end users can still access the archived email even if they are in office 365.

Recommendation is to leave the archived data as is or you will just increase the time and amount of data you are migrating into o365.

    Hi tcottrell,

    thank you for your input

currently we are giving 500mb mail box for each user, and we have enabled sipmana archiving just to enhance the space on their mailboxes, the average of archived data for each user is 1GB, so migration size wont be high that much since we are going to move users gradually.

nowadays we are shifting to office 365 with 50GB, we are planning to stop simpana archiving for some time and see how it will go

what is the practice in our case

migrate to office 365 then restore the archived data ?

restore all archived data before migrating ?
