  • Question about Sharepoint Database backups...?

I was looking at a Commvault Sharepoint configuration; the server has Sharepoint Agent installed and the databases are stored on a diffrent SQL server which has SQL Agent installed.

Server A:  Shareopint agent installed (has hourly transacitonal; daily diffrential and weekly full for Sharepoint Database)

Server B: SQL Agent installed hosting the Sharepoint databases for server A. (daily diffrential and weekly full)

I am not sure if this should be the case; would it not cause a conflict wherein two diffrent agents are trying to protect the same databases and also will lead to doubling of data?

Would check the following for someinformation on this topic:

The short answer is yes it could but there are pieces in place to help avoid that.  The SharePoint agent has a content database option which can be selected to perform backups of the content database with your SharePoint agent backups.  If this is configured, the SQL agent automatically filters those databases from being backed up, which would avoid conflicts.  With this option off, the entire content databases are not backed up from the SharePoint agent side, only from the SQL agent.
