I deleted a storage policy and it isn't showing up in the GUI.  However there is a GDDB policy that references this missing Storage Policy.  This makes it impossible to delete the GDDB.  Is there a way to clean the references to the deleted Storage Policy from the CommServe database?

    Hi HubJason

Can you please confirm whether there are other Storage Policy/Copy still associated to the GDDB?

The only reason why the GDDB policy is still around could be due to other Storage Policy association.

You can confirm whether it is associated to other Storage Policy/Copy by reviewing the properties of the Storage Policy.

Once all Storage Policy is dis-associated from the GDDB (and the GDDB is sealed), overtime it will age out from the CommServe.

The Storage Policy is gone.  I don't know how it managed to delete since it was associated with a GDDB but it is gone from the Storage Policies.  I tried to recreate the policy with the same name but it says the name is already in use.

    Hi HubJason

So there are not GDDB Policy that exist in the CommServe at the moment, but it still resides under the Deduplication Engine? (If you can clarify that would be great)

If the above is the case, please engage support so they can confirm why this is happening.

Note - usually if the Storage Policy and the GDDB Policy is deleted, the DDB Engine should also be gone as there are no more association.

    See this thread.

I think it addresses this issue.

Running Data Aging will remove the DDB Engine.

    Hi KrisRobnett

You are definitely correct, after Sealing and Aging out all Jobs, by running Data Aging it would remove the GDDB (if not associated to anything).

However depending on the scenario, if the GDDB is still in the GUI after multiple days (and there are no more association to the GDDB), then we do have an issue.

Note - Data Aging is ran once every 24 hours, so if all Jobs are aged but DDB still resides in the GUI after multiple days, further investigation would be required.
