    Hi,

Just tried to download HPK 17 and it gets to about 72% then fails with the error :

    " Error Code: [68:70]
Description: Could not download the file [CVUpdates/11.0.0/BUILD80/SP15/WinX64/CumulativeUpdatePacks/CU17//DbPayload/WinX64_11.0.0B80-SP15_SP15-HotFix-1824/BinaryPayload/procedures/AppGetFailedJobOccuranceListForClients.sql.zip/C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\SoftwareCache\CVMedia\11.0.0\SP15_1873895_R608\Windows\BinaryPayload\LooseUpdates\CU17\/DbPayload/WinX64_11.0.0B80-SP15_SP15-HotFix-1824/BinaryPayload/procedures/AppGetFailedJobOccuranceListForClients.sql.zip].
    Source: cv01, Process: DownloadSoftware "

When it attempts to restart the count for the "Total files to download" increments by about 1200 and it proceeds for a few minutes, stalls with the above error messages. Lather, rinse, repeat.

So I tried the manual method of downloading the software from the customer portal and then using the Copy Software operation. This also failed during the Copy Software task.

Next I cleared the local cache then attempted to download and install HPK16 from the CommServ. It ran into the same error message and behaviour as above for HPK17. Just for fun I retried the Copy Software operation with the HPK17 files that I previously downloaded manually from the Customer Portal.

Success! Sort of... Now my CommServe says that is has HPK17 in the cache and it even says that the CommServ needs updating from HPK15 to HPK17. Great, but... all my other clients - both Windows and Linux - say that their version is "Ahead of Cache". No doubt this was true when I cleared out all the data in the CommServ cache, but this should not be the case now that the cache has HPK17 in it...

    Cheers,

    Ron

No documentation was uploaded either, wanted to know what actually is included on the HPK17 and the online docs arent up to date with the 17 yet.

had the same issue with HPK14/15/16 ... support have a workaround - moved the download location for SoftwareCache to the ROOT of the disk - the path is too long for the OS it turns out and iths' the \/ in the path (after CU17 and before DbPayload) that also breaks the downloader

Try moving SoftwareCache to root of CommCell drive - documentation exists or log a support ticket.

Interesting, i have always had my software cache under Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore which seems to be the default. Are you saying that Commvault recommends to place software cache like *C:\SoftwareCache* for example? Do you have the link to that?

currently a known issue according to Support - hence they were quick to do the move to D:\SoftwareCache (in my instance I have Commvault installed on D:)

Not sure there's a KB for the detail just yet...

Best to open a case - the guys will jump on and do the move and validate the cache for you very quickly and ensure it's all okay.

A location change http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=2719.htm and trying a new download should be pretty straight forward.

It makes me nervous when a newrly release hotfix pack by Commvault doesnt even have documentation out there to inform its customers. So in this case, I did download the HPK17 from CV Store, did the Copy Software and when I run the Copy for Windows x64 it fails. Then I found this link http://forum.commvault.com/forums/62457/ShowThread.aspx#62457 which says to download it from Maintenance Portal, but the latest in that portal is the HPK16. THEN now the recommendation is to change Software cache location but there isnt any official KB from CV stating that. Honestly if the package isnt ready to be out there just dont publish it, wait until you have all the documentation and until it can be available through at least more than one source and stable so you dont confuse customers.

I only see up to HPK16.

    https://ma.commvault.com/HotfixPacks?fv=11.0&sp=15

.. but I never download updates for the CS through the GUI anyway.

I always manually download the file, stop any activity, then run the EXE seperately.

..and I definintely wouldn't want to try and download/install an update before it's in the BO.

Support did say the long-path download issue would be resolved in an upcoming HPK - of course the chances are it won't be able to install without the SoftwareCache move workaround first!

So that ticket and the one being referenced are from Sept 2018. It looks to due with this change that was made in March\April that had more to do with this: https://ma.commvault.com/Article/Details/52911

I'll see if I can find some more information.

The HF description is "Download fails for Hotfix packs because of extra path seperator when MAX_PATH exceeds for Windows". They will be released for 14 and 15 soon, but until the workaound will allow you to download the updates.

SP14 will be 2865, no official HF# for SP15 but they are both being created\tested in Develoment at this time.

Where can I find the entire description for all the hotfixes released (HPK17 SP15)? The online documentation doesnt have those.

After the download is complete and the client sw upgrade is successful is it ok delete the contents of the softwarecache in the new location. My commcell is a VM and it is starting to run low on disk space and requsting additional space from IT is a process so i would prefer not to at this time.
