Creating a Custom Package for WebServer

Created a custom package out of the 10GB Media downloaded from Content Store. Running Setup and selected Custom Package, selected the WebServer Package the package creation finishes. On my destination (Media Agents) client when I run the installation it says. Then by looking at the last two lines, my understanding is that I should have selected all those other packages (well) when I go back to recreate the package I can only see Intellisnap and ContentAnalyzer. All the other ones arent present in the list. Anyone see this before? Besides, why cant I push WebServer from CommServer install software directly?

    Hi pereirath

Just by looking at the Installation.log, the custom package looks to be missing the following packages:

"Error: Required package(s) [ExchangeDatabaseiDataAgent, VSSHardwareProvider, IntelliSnap, VirtualServerAgent, ContentAnalyzer] are not present in current DVD."

There shouldn't any issue with Local or Push install for the Webserver.

If you are still having download issue, open a support Ticket, so Support can check and verify the required packages.

    Regards

    Winston

WebServer package requires SQL Server which is more than 4GB in size and requires additional time for file transfer and installation. We don't download SQL to the Commserve software cache and hence we dont support push installation of WebServer to the clients. You will have to perform an interactive installation.

However, a WebServer does not require the packages listed in the log file and I suspect it has something to do with the custom package that is created. Please share the install logs from the machine where the custom package created. Escalating a TR will also help.

    Here are my steps with an Commvault admin user. Navegate to SoftwareCache where I have all the packages I need;

    1- E:\SoftwareCache\CVMedia\11.0.0\SP15_1873895_R608\Windows right click Setup

    2- Run Setup as admin

    3- English > Agree > Create a Custom Package > x64

4- Tried ServicePack Installations and New Installations

Both Packages created and tried both, it runs through the install and at the end it asks for user/password

    Solved
In my case I reviewed the my SoftwareCache folder to make sure that it was properly configured.

**Clear my Software Cache and started a SP15 download from the CommCell. With that completed, download the latest hotfix pack. ** If you re sure that your cache software is healthy and complete, no need to follow this.

1- From the Windows folder on the software cache, run setup, and created a custom package for NEW INSTALLS and all packages (including SQL).
2- That done, mapped the folder to the target machine and run Setup > Selected Add Packages -> WebServer.
3- Installation begins, and after 5 mins it asks for a reboot and it says BEFORE SETUP CONTINUE.
4- Once the machine is rebooted, note that the services will continue DOWN and it has to be that way since the installation is not complete.
5- YOU WILL HAVE TO RUN THE SETUP AGAIN (from the same location as the step 1) because the Setup WONT automatically resume.
6- Execute the Setup and a box will appear saying Resume Install (Select Resume Install) or Clean Up Unfinished installation.
7- Few more minutes and it will ask for a users with CommServe Admin permissions (admin), after that installation should go through and complete bringing all the services up again with no more restarts.
