    Hi all,

I am trying to VSA backup for SQL servers in my enviornment. Recently we had a virus attack on all sevrers where we had to rebuild SQL servers and restore data that is backed up from SQL agent. So need to configure VSA backup for these machine only for OS disks.  We are running SQL agents backup(Daily ful abd Hourly Tlog). Our version is CV11 and SP9. Can someone suggest what to be done here.

Create a subclient and filter out the disks you do not want to protect.

    VMware :

    Hyper-V :

Just be very careful that if you restore and overwrite the VM, the first thing that will happens that the existing disks will be deleted and you are not going to get a warning that this could be the outcome.  Just make sure you restore as a new VM, then attach the data disk and you will be good as new. :)

Set the disks to Independent Persistent in VMware. That's what we do. Our SQL servers have CV agent installed to protect DBs. Snapshot will only contain OS volume
