    Commvault v11 SP12

clients are KVM VMs on CentOS 7

    Hi,

I have some experience with VSA for VMware but I had a hard time figuring out whether VSA for KVM works the same way.  I have a few questions:

    1. Does Commvault even support KVM on CentOS 7? http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=3358.htm shows only RHEV.

    2. If it's supported, the same link also mentions "For Red Hat, the proxy computer is always a virtual machine on the Red Hat cluster." Must the proxy have to be a VM in KVM? I was hoping to install VSA proxy on the media agent server.

    Thank you.

    Hi acpp

Please refer to the following subsection in the above Documentation - http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=31916.htm

You will need to leverage ovirt to manage KVM.

I believe the Proxy needs to be a VM in clustered environment, so it can interact with the management layer to do failover. However if you are looking to back KVM VM, I dont see any issue installing the VSA proxy on the MA.

    Regards

    Winston
