Can anyone share what they have set up for their Commvault job priorities in a larger production environment?    I have my system priorities to be agent based, and im looking to get an idea of how i should priortize regular backups vs aux copies.   Right now we have problems with aux copy jobs taking a long time to run (specifically the aux copy jobs to tape, as a few of our backups go directly to tape as well and tie up the tape drives)    Thanks

I've found that backup jobs that write directly to Tape are almost always sluggish as the throughput from Backup Agents is heavily variable.  Tapes perform far better if the data is staged or spooled on disk first.

One method we use to enhance our 'direct to tape' backups is to use a spool copy first and then AUX copy from the spool.  While this is technically no longer a direct to tape backup data remains on disk for only the period until the AUX copy is completed.  If you do go down this track, I suggeste using a non-deduped policy so the data aging and general pruning jobs do not have a major impact on normal operations.
