    Hello,

From SP15 there is a new Job status named "Commited", as I understand it happens when a backup job is killed and that job have some items successfully backed up, so possible to restore, but not all files/folders.

There is a note in documenation:

"Important: Allow the backup job to complete after the Kill request. Do not kill the job if it restarts, because a second Kill request interrupts the archive indexing process and causes any committed backup data to be discarded."

Does the above mean that if kill is selected twice for the job the job will have the status of "failed" that it used to?

In our case this change ended up as a descrapancy in our auditing for the DB backups of a sql server, they are done on a job basis. While we had a Incident Ticket as a job failed, due to it being killed, but the commvault report stated it as "Committed".

Is there a seting that can be changed so this type of jobs end up with "failed"?

    Hello,

Yes. If we force kill a job (when the job is in kill pending state), we get the older behaviour and job will get killed.

We always commit the job (if it has backed up some data) on first kill request.

    Regards
