Our organization has approved a change in retention for our tape copies. We have a primary daily 90 day copy on disk and a second 30 day copy on disk to a different array. The 3rd copy is a selective weekly full to tape for 490 days. The disk copies aren't changing.

    Current:

    • Selective copy
    • Weekly full
    • Starts on Friday
    • 1st full backup
    • Retain for 490 days
The new retention policy is stated as 4 weekly fulls in rotation with 15 monthly fulls.
I would like to have the 1st weekly full of the month be used for the weekly and monthly so not to have 2 tape copies of the same data. I'm trying to figure out the best way to transittion to the new policy and have the current set age according to the new policy. Thanks in advance for help.

You can configure monthly full extended retention on weekly selective copy. All weekly jobs will be copied to this tape copy and from that monthly Fulls will be further extended retained.
